Reconfigurable Control
My PhD focuses on the design
of reconfigurable flight controllers which are able to handle failure
situations in aircraft. For example, the following links from Dryden show a
F-15 and a MD-11 cargo plane landing under
propulsion-only control after a simulated total hydraulics failure.
Although I now focus mostly on computational geometry (I promise you there
is some relevance there to fault tolerance), the work I have done so far on
reconfigurable control can be found in my first year report here.
