Haig's amusing page

Rather than include favourite viola jokes (besides, I love the viola, which is one of my instruments!), I have one or two rather different delights in store for the reader instead! Please also feel free to refer to my page of fine excerpts, several of which are very amusing indeed!

  • A series of Ormandy quotes, which I found on rec.music.classical a few days ago
  • An amusing early description of a conductor, forwarded by one of my pupils
  • An equally unconventional quasi-musical story, "Trio Sonata"...!
  • Certain examples of less than subtle abuses of the language, in the shape of "Funny English Notices", recently forwarded by a Scottish bassoonist friend
  • A story about a concert invloving Enescu
  • Some unusual cookery advice
  • How to achieve economies in musical performance
  • On the Twelve Days of Christmas!
  • And here's a link to Phil Sweeting's splendid "humorous page". Some of the longer law-related jokes and the list of courtroom blunders, are particularly funny!

Oh yes - I suppose I might also mention that a colleague of mine with a camera derived some amusement at my expense the other day... you may click here should you wish to inspect the outcome of these shameless machinations!

Well, I do hope the amusement elicited from this page serves to refresh the wearied and the unwearied alike!
