Yadykin (Russia) SCOPE The objective of the symposium is to bring together control system specialists, equipment manufacturers, and end-users to evaluate the possibilities of techniques, components and instruments for intelligent control. The symposium covers components and instruments employing software and hardware (microprocessors and other special circuits) to implement advanced control strategies and intelligent functions such as self-diagnosis and calibration. Focused topics are: large scale integration of electronic and mechanical devices, sensor fusion and perception, and intelligent power components, as well as applications in relevant fields. The scientific-technical program will include plenary-survey papers, invited sessions and regular technical sessions. TOPICS Intelligent controllers, sensors and actuators - Smart controllers and supervisors - Electro-optical sensors and effectors - Virtual sensors and effectors - Perception systems - Self verification and diagnostics - Error compensation - Actuators and drivers Control techniques - Rule-based - Learning and adaptation - Neural network based - Qualitative - Fuzzy Industrial communication networks and standards Advanced implementation issues - Hardware: special purpose architectures - Software: conventional tools and specific shells - Improvement of reliability Applications - Process control - Industrial diagnostics - Industrial inspection - Environmental control - Robotics, etc. Education and training - Special purpose - Postgraduate - Retraining CONTRIBUTIONS Five copies of an extended abstract of three pages (800-1000 words) in English should be sent to the Symposium Secretariat by July 31, 1993. It must clearly indicate the new contributions and the relevance to the scope of the Symposium, according to the following structure: 1. Author(s)% address 2. Title of the paper 3. State of the art 4. New contribution 5. Results achieved 6. References 7. Five keywords Proposals for invited sessions including a brief description of the topics and a list of prospective authors and titles should be sent to the Symposium Secretariat by July 31, 1993. Final papers following the accepted abstracts and the referees% suggestions will be accepted. KEY DATES Submission of extended abstracts and proposal for invited sessions July 31, 1993 Preliminary acceptance October 31, 1993 Submission of final papers February 20, 1994 Final acceptance March 31, 1994 LOCATION The Symposium will take place at the Hotel AGRO (H-1121 Budapest, Normafa ut 54), situated on Szabadsag Hill, a quiet, nice part of the capital, offering beautiful panoramas of the city. The Hotel has excellent conference facilities and can accommodate all participants at reasonable prices. Attractions include an indoor swimming pool and fitness centre; a scenic forest is close by. PUBLICATION AND COPYRIGHT Only unpublished papers may be submitted. IFAC holds the copyright for publication of the papers. Accepted papers will appear in the Preprints and will be considered for possible publication in the IFAC Journals Automatica or Control Engineering Practice published by Pergamon Press. A paper will be released for (re)publication three months after the symposium unless the author has been notified that the paper is being considered for publication in either of the IFAC Journals. The abstract of all presented papers will be published in the IFAC Journal Control Engineering Practice.
