A 5 - 8 minute video tape (NTSC VHS) should accompany with the abstract for the Control Education Competition. The title the paper and the name(s) and the affiliation(s) of the author(s) should appear in the beginning of the tape. Secretariat ACE`94 Professor Katsuhisa Furuta Tokyo Institute of Technology Dept. of Control and Systems Engineering 2-12-1 Oh-Okayama, Meguro-ku Tokyo 152, Japan DEADLINES: Submission of abstracts: August 31, 1993 Notification of acceptance: November 30, 1993 Submission of full papers: February 28, 1994 Further information can be obtained from the secretariat. SCOPE: The symposium will contain two types of sessions: regular sessions and a Control Education Competition. The topics of the regular sessions will include: 1)Teaching Aids for Control Theory 2)Computer Aided Instruction and Systems 3)Control Laboratory Experiments 4)Efficient Ways to Teach Control Theory 5)Continuing Control Education in Industry 6)International between Industries and Universities 7)International Cooperation for Control Education and other subjects related to control education. Two or three invited sessions are organized for special topics. This is the first time to have a Control Education Competition at the symposium. The theme is "Education Demonstration for Control Theory." The object is to draw attention to experimental apparatus that demonstrates the effectiveness and usefulness of control theory. This will help students and control engineers to recognize and understand control theory. Prospective applicants should submit a paper describing the experimental apparatus combined with a 5 -8 minute self-contained video tape (NTSC VHS) for the demonstration. The tape should show the effectiveness of the developed equipment and/or the power of the considered control theory. Selected papers for the competition will be presented at the Control Education Competition Committee w/a $1,000 award given at the symposium. CONFERENCE CITE: The symposium will be held at Kogakuin University, Shinjuku, Tokyo on August 1 - 2, 1994.
