In this talk, we explain two topics of system identification of plants and stabilization of closed loop systems which contain quantizations of signals in order to give an insight on a necessary amount of information for operating control systems. In the former topic, we consider an optimal quantization scheme of signals for the minimum variation of the estimated system parameters and explain its property. On the other hand, in the latter, we give a condition for the stability of closed loop systems containing transmission channels with finite channel capacities. A connection between the notions of control theory such as zeros or poles of systems and those of information theory is shown.
