Model Network Structures for Nonlinear Control

Abstract

This talk will look at some of the work the Aspen Technology Advanced Control R&D group has done to enable implementation of reliable nonlinear industrial Model Predictive Controllers - in particular in the areas of Polymer Transition Control and Blending System Control. The talk will focus on the modeling aspects, giving details of Bounded Derivative Network (BDN) technology which is a generic modeling technology specifically designed for control and optimization problems. We will also look more generally at model network structures as a paradigm for control.
