Classical adaptive controllers have long been criticised for a lack of robustness to unmodelled dynamics. In this talk, we re-visit this question using the tools of the nonlinear gap metric. In particular we will synthesise adaptive controllers with (non-zero) robust stability margins in both an L2 and a L-infinity setting. A particular feature of the results is that the margin depends on the magnitude of the external disturbances.
