Fault-tolerant control - is it possible?
Maciejowski J.M.
Diagnosis of Processes and Systems, September 2009 Invited plenary paper
Abstract
A real demand now exists for fault-tolerant control systems. This paper gives some examples in which this arises, drawn from process control, automotive and aerospace applications. But fault-tolerance is a very ambitious objective; the paper examines critically what has been achieved so far, and what it
might be possible to achieve. It also speculates a little on how it might be achieved. The paper is illustrated by examples from real applications, particularly from the aerospace sector.
